PST - High Impact Polystyrene (HIPS)

PST/High Impact Polystyrene (HIPS)

High-impact polystyrene (HIPS) is a rubber-modified polystyrene that is significantly harder and more impact-resistant than general purpose polystyrene. HIPS plastics are extensively used in the refrigeration and automotive markets where its superior qualities for  vacuum forming make it an exceptional choice for manufacturing . It is manufactured with a high gloss finish and is food grade approved.

Key features of PST (HIPS) plastic sheets

Relatively low-cost

If larger quantities are ordered.

Impact-Resistant,

Hard and dimensionally stable (between 10ºC and 30ºC working temperature range)

Design Finish

Medium or high-gloss finish

Easily Processed

Easily machined and thermo-formed

Great Insulator

Good electrical insulator

Non-Absorbent

Does not absorb much moisture

Can Be Printed or Bonded

ABS plastic sheet have made their way into the  digital and screen printing markets because of their quality finished prints. Use specialised bonding material and suitable glue for your application.

Food Grade

ABS sheets are not UV resistant (will yellow if exposed to UV light or other weathering factors). Odourless, tasteless & easily recyclable

HIPS ESCR/HIPS

Ampa Plastics also manufactures a modified form of HIPS known as ESCR, or environmental stress crack resistant HIPS. ESCR is less susceptible to environmental stress cracking than HIPS. ESCR/HIPS is extensively used in the refrigeration industry.
